The Department of Homeland Security, in partnership with other federal agencies, is taking an aggressive approach to counter the threat of shoulder-fired missiles to civilian commercial aviation. Flight Safety Technologies is currently engaging DHS officials in an effort to win support for a TIICM™ countermeasure solution to that problem. The DHS also has a keen interest in the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles by the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection to patrol and protect our borders. To make effective use of UAVs, those aircraft must have access to the national airspace system, which necessitates that the UAVs have an adequate sense-and-avoid capability. Flight Safety Technologies will continue to pursue DHS support for the UNICORN™ collision-avoidance sensor for that application.
